About The Studio Mind
The Studio Mind is an artist-owned space in Downtown Martinez, which is located 25 miles northeast of Oakland, California. Doors opened in September 2016 with owner Maritza Ruiz-Kim showing her own recent artwork. From time to time, the front gallery space is used to host exhibitions for other artists or community organizations. Maritza's own studio space is located behind the gallery, a place where she mostly works on her own fine art and other projects. The Studio Mind website is the main online spot where Maritza is able to sell her own artwork in addition to highlighting projects and recent writings from her blog.
Maritza is a San Francisco Bay Area artist who has a BFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute. She uses her artwork to examine emotional landscapes and social structures. In 2013 she launched ProWax Journal, serving as Editor-in-Chief until Summer 2016, when she turned her focus to opening The Studio Mind. Maritza has exhibited her artwork in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Santa Fe, and Provincetown.
