PROCESS for local commissioned portraits
(Concord/Martinez/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek):
1.) Place deposit: use this page to submit $50 deposit towards $150 graphite portrait commission on 9″ x 12″ archival paper.
2.) Set a meet up time: After receiving your order, we set a time for me to spend 30 minutes with you & your child. Local clients (Contra Costa) only. See FAQ below.
3.) Before our meet up: Send me your favorite pictures of your child, so that I know what you enjoy most in a portrait.
4.) Meet up: I bring my Canon DSLR camera, and I capture casual photos to use as a reference. Together, we pick a preferred photo. $50 for 2nd deposit.
5.) Drawing commences: I work with graphite pencil on paper from the photo we agreed upon.
6.) Receive: I deliver your child’s portrait to you! $50 upon delivery to complete payment.
• Can you do other sizes?
This price is for 9″ x 12″, but I can go up to 13″ x 19″.
• Can you do a portrait of more than one child in one drawing?
I also offer a commission for a single portrait of two children, please see my other listings.
• You say you work with local clients only, what does that mean?
Since my portrait process includes a 30 min. meet up, I need to limit my travel to local areas.
If you can meet in the Concord/Martinez/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area, that would be great!
If you need to meet further away, we can discuss possibilities.
• Can you work with out-of-area clients?
Yes. Although I love to take my own reference photos, I can see what you have available.
• Do you use my photos as a reference for the drawing?
I like to look at your favorite casual photos to get a sense of what you love in a portrait.
I prefer to use photos I have taken, but you can send me photos and I can give you info on how they will work as a drawing.
No obligation, no charge. 🙂 Just friendly feedback.
• Can I see a sample of a finished piece in person?
I’ll bring one to our 30 min. meet up.
• How long does it take to finish a drawing?
Approximately 1-4 weeks.
• Can I get additional prints of the drawing after you finish it?
Definitely! I can provide you with beautiful prints of the same drawing, at a lower cost.
• How do you determine your prices?
At this point, my prices are low considering my experience. I’m more interested in getting my art into the hands of people who can enjoy it rather than aiming for a particular price tag. However, I anticipate that for commissioned pieces, my prices will increase with time. This is due more to my time availability for completing commissions than anything else.
Have other questions? Let me hear them, I’d be happy to answer anything! Send me a message on my contact page. 🙂
Once I have the reference photograph, there is a 1 – 4 week turnaround time.
